Day 1: Wroclaw, Poland

Yesterday (October 17, 2011) we took off from the Bluegrass Airport around 12:45p, arrived in Charlotte, then to Munchen (Munich), and finally to Wroclaw (pron. Vrotzwav) around 11:00a. We lost a day due to traveling, were extremely tired since it was about 5:00a in the U.S. Last night (October 18, 2011) we finally went to sleep at 8:30p (2:30p in the U.S.).

Our food on the flight to Munchen was okay with the exception of breakfast: cold wheat bread with cold butter and a cup of pineapples with half of a strawberry… I really would have preferred something like Cracker Barrel for the price you pay to fly! Haha, kidding. It was good. However, during our trip to Wroclaw, they served us a cold sandwich. That would normally be awesome, except their sandwiches are different. It consisted of bread, some kind of sauce (assuming mayo), and two slices of yellow bell peppers. I don’t like any kind of peppers.

While these all sound like complaints, they were our biggest concerns which were not concerns at all. We arrived safely, ate at the Sphinx where we had shoarma, and walked around the rest of the night. I had to get a belt and others wanted water since we are not supposed to drink the tap water. We got to see Dietrich Bonhoeffer’s church along with a statue commemorating his death and efforts fighting against the Nazi’s.

Today we are grabbing a cab to the train station and heading to Krakow. It promises to be a good day!
